Thoughts on 2 Timothy....

I was reading 2 Timothy 1 with my oldest son the other day, and it struck me, "This is what I want to hear for my children and my children's children."
2 Timothy 1: 5-7, Paul writes to Timothy, "I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into the flame the gift of God...For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline..."
As a first generation Christian family in our family tree, It is my deepest desire as a mother of three boys, to hand down and entrust the gospel message to our children and our children's children, and to have it shared from generation to generation long after I'm gone.
But, how do I do this? I found one answer in Deuteronomy 11: 18-19, which states,"Fix these words of Mine (God's Words) in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads (in other words, spend time memorizing God's Word). Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." (parenthetical remarks are mine).
Spending time in God's Word, praying together, and pointing out evidence of God where ever you go (on hikes, to the park, or just walking down the street) seems to be a really good way to share the gospel with my children and maybe your children, too. Well, I need to go pick up my youngest from pre-school, now, I hope that what I have shared will be a blessing to you as it was to me and my oldest son.
