Safe Social Networking For Kids, Finally!!

Has your 7 - 17 year old asked you if they could have a facebook account, but you don't feel comfortable letting them plunge into the deep end of the social networking pool? Have no fear, FaceChipz are here!!

I just found out about this fantastic, kid safe way to let our children be social online without the fear of wondering who's watching them post personal information on their site.

What are FaceChipz? According to the creator, "FaceChipz are collectable friendship tokens that kids trade with each other to create their own secure online community on the www.FaceChipz.com website. FaceChipz.com has all the features of a real social network – but with one big difference: kids can ONLY communicate with others they’ve physically exchanged FaceChipz with – NO strangers allowed! No one can arbitrarily contact them. No one can search for them."

How it works is pure genius:
1. Kids purchase packs of FaceChipz from a favorite retailer. (Each pack contains 5 tokens.) There are many FaceChipz to collect, all with different emoticons and in different colors.
2. After they are signed up kids create their own unique homepage where they are able to chat with friends they exchange FaceChipz with, to post pictures, build favorites lists and do other cool stuff.
3. Once a kid has set up their account they register each FaceChipz online by entering the unique code on the back of the chip into the FaceChipz code reader.
4. Once the FaceChipz are registered, kids (“Givers”) hand them out to friends or to someone (“Receiver”) they would like to become friends with.
5. The Receiver goes online to www.FaceChipz.com and enters in the same unique code from the back of the FaceChipz.
6. The FaceChipz database confirms the friendship and the two are linked!

The best part of this is that once a FaceChipz token is registered by both the Giver and Receiver it cannot be used again. (The code becomes invalid – ensuring that if a chip fell into unwanted hands, a stranger could not link to the pervious holder."

I am so excited about this that I'm going to let my oldest son use it (instead of facebook or myspace, where there are just too many possible dangers of personal information becoming public).

Check it out for yourself at www.FaceChipz.com. Happy Socializing!
